I guess what puzzles me the most is the tensioner getting bent. That makes no sense to me as it can travel in both directions.
If I were you, I would put the new belt and tensioner on, with things aligned properly, rotate the engine by hand (without spark plugs) verifying that valves are not touching. Then doing a compression test (unplug injectors). Even cold readings should be over 100 psi.
BTW, anyone reading all of these posts: Never use a breaker bar trying to loosen the crank pulley nut. 300lbs of steady pressure will have negative results on any holding device you can think of.
