Timing, Was: SU performance tuning... 1800

Phil,

I'm curious about what you said about timing, and that you "suspect it's a lot less than many people think."

I have a B18B, of "unknown but probably rebuilt" history, that originally came, stock, in a unique (133xxx VID) rust bucket of a '67 122 out in California.

Now it's in my non-rusty '67 122, with newly intalled S.U.'s that do not, for the first time ever in my experience, have throttle shaft bushing leaks. Yahoo!

So, with the carbs now working as they should, I want to time the car for optimum operation and power. Is the dyno the only way do it right?

gary - '67 122S, '72 ES
