what would be your opinion on valve lash settings with a straight up D camshaft?

Experiment of course. It could be .013" is perfect, you'd have to open them to .018" to see what the difference actually is.

The BHP headers: A decent megaphone would be something I'd like to try on them, carefully merge the 4 pipes down to a 2" venturi, then start a megaphone from there. Might not make a single extra peak HP, but might make a few more elsewhere.
