A megaphone system as you described is just exactly what I need... I'm already close to the noise level limit using a muffler! :)

FWIW though, my system is 'megaphoned' already. From the 2" collector, it goes to about 4 feet of 2" ID, then a 10" long, coned transition to a straight-through muffler (4" perforated core, 5 1/2" OD), to a short 4 inch ID turn-down, which is just ahead of the rear axle.
