De-tuning a B18 444-544

Thanks guys.

Erling: Yes, I would very much like to have Mr. Larsson's e-mail address. Mine is in my "profile". My questions to him would basically be; "Did the Buster 320B use the same cam shaft as the B18A, and if not, is it still available and would it require a special carburetor?" And; "Are used governors with the special cam gear covers still to be found in Sweden?"

George: The generator head I'm thinking of is the Chinese, 12kw ST unit. They're hefty creatures with massive rotors and cast iron fans that would provide some of the effect of an additional flywheel. But yes, a heavier flywheel, or one between the gearbox and the coupler might obviate the need of a governor when the unit is used for household purposes. A welder may create a different situation. I would use the M40 in, maybe, second gear to be able to keep the revs up on the engine, but get them down to 1800 at the gen head. Here are some links to illustrations of what I'm thinking: http://www.green-trust.org/cogen.htm (Just the picture)
http://utterpower.com/ryoder.htm (Shows the size of the gen head. I would mount engine and gen head together and rig some sort of additional PTO) and http://www.utterpower.com/ST.htm

Joaquín: You're right, the BB30 looks very much like the B18. I checked out both sites you gave me; unfortunately, neither tells me anything about the cam shafts used in the engine, and neither lists them as available spare parts. But they give me places where I could ask further questions.
My German is nothing to brag about, but I know Dutch, which is said (not by Dutchmen, of course) to be nothing but badly pronounced German. ;-) So, I have no trouble dealing with the web-site. Además, mi esposa es una de esas venezolanas de padres alemanes que tuvo que hablar alemán para poder cenar en la mesa con ellos. Cuando se lo pido cariñosamente, me ayuda con el alemán.
Bob S.
