De-tuning a B18 444-544

Hey Paul!!

That thought passed through my mind, but my first reaction was "that's nuts"! I'm glad you suggested it!

Keep the front two cylinders? What about oil passages for the missing rods, plug them off with threaded plugs?

Power? If I run a 12 volt DC, permanent magnet alternator versus an AC head, probably enough to make 80 to 100 amps at engine rpm of 1800 to 2000 RPM. any excees electricity can be dumped to resistance heaters to heat water. Off the flywheel end, I am thinking about a single stage hydraulic pump to run a compressor and my machine tools using gerotor type hydraulic motors. If I get 10 to 15 hp, my needs would be more than met. My primary goal is LOW fuel consumption.

I have an EGT so I could tune by EGT probably.

Thanks for chiming in!!

Mike
